Just a quick thank you. Like everyone else who has stayed in the cottage we loved it. The welcoming touches were appreciated and the information folders were most useful for local knowledge. We used the Jarrold pathfinder walks book every day and were blessed with good weather. The Lamb featured on our itinerary every evening too; great to have real beer drawn from a barrel in an old-fashioned friendly pub.
We didn't want to leave. We wanted to take the bed home with us, it must be the most comfortable sleep I've ever had. The Forest of Dean is an under-rated area, so relaxing. Will recommend you to anyone we know who intends passing that way.

We know the Forest Of Dean very well and we loved this cottage. There are plenty of short walks without having to drive anywhere, which is a bonus when you have dogs, but lots of places to visit by car. The cottage is extremely well equipped. I am pleased to say that I can still light a real fire after all these years but Alan didn't fare too well as the only time he tried to do it - it went out. The shower is a cracker; comfortable bed and the tiny courtyard was lovely. Amazingly have yet to make it to the pubs but we'll be back soon

Enjoyed our stay so much we asked to stay an extra night, even in cold February! The cottage has everything you need and is so cosy. The location is great too. Highly recommended

The cottage is ‘just what it says on the tin’; despite a severe cold snap, with plenty of snow, we were snug, warm and cosy. Nice village with a good variety of walks. We fell in love with The Ostrich, Newland (great food, great atmosphere and a good welcome with plenty of local canines for our two dogs to feel at home). We also enjoyed a drink in The Lamb PH after our walks, a great ‘local’; I’ve often sat in a pub and heard the locals discussing a nice bit of skirt, but never previously heard them discussing if a pressure cooker or slow braising was the best approach! We will be back.

Our second visit to Wainlete this year. A most enjoyable two weeks. It rained every day but that didn't stop us getting out and about; mostly walking!
Cottage was as homely as ever

Perfect little cottage for an escape to the countryside.
We had a lovely week, and especially enjoyed lunches at The Ostrich - with an easy walk there and back to justify the pud!

We spent a lovely week at the cottage starting from the 12th Sept 09.We were incredible lucky with the weather. The cottage is a real home from home with every thing you could need for your stay.Bruno (the dog) was well provided for and made a few doggie friends too.The restaurants in the village were great. We would love to come back again and have a few places left to visit.
